Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido has claimed that he is close to signing Birmingham City youngster Robin Shroot on loan.

The highly-rated attacking midfielder, who also plays out wide, arrived at St Andrew's in January after the Premier League new boys paid a nominal fee for his services to former club Harrow Borough.

From Birmingham, he spent time on-loan at Walsall where he made five appearances.

The deal is set to be an initial three-month loan, with a view to extending the length of the agreement until the end of the 2009-10 season.

Peschisolido told the Burton Mail: "The deal's been agreed in principle and I expect everything to be finalised in pre-season.

"Birmingham City have done us a fantastic favour because Robin's a player we'd expect to be outside our range financially.

"Hopefully, Robin will come to us as a young and hungry player with a point to prove.

"Birmingham regard him as a player with a lot of potential, but right now they're building a squad for the Premier League."
