The Burton Albion manager believes he could miss out on Peterborough United front man Scott Rendall because of the transfer fee He would like to bring the 6ft 1ins striker to the Pirelli Stadium this summer, but faces stiff competition for the Posh forward. Albion’s League Two rivals Stevenage Borough, Wycombe Wanderers and Torquay United are also keen on recruiting 23-year-old Rendell. Peschisolido has warned he will pull out of the race if Peterborough insist on a fee for a player who has barely figured in their plans since moving to London Road in 2008. The Brewers boss said: “I’ve made an inquiry about Rendell because he’s the sort of striker who I think would offer us something different to what we’ve already got. “But that’s as far as it has gone at the moment — and I’m certainly not keen on the idea of paying a transfer fee for him, hes by no means the only striker ive asked about and i wouldnt have a problem bringing someone in on loan" Peterborough are blieved to be looking to recoup some of the £115,000 they paid Cambridge United for the player 2 years ago The striker spent last term on loan to Torquay, but still has a year to run on his Peterborough contract. However, he has been told by new manager Gary Johnson that has he is not part of his plans for next season. His best season was with Cambridge in 2007/08 when he scored 17 times in 29 appearances
