Nigel Clough had no complaints despite seeing his Burton Albion side denied three points by Fulham for whom Ryan Sessegnon grabbed an injury-time leveller to cancel out Jackson Irvine's second half opener.
Despite coming within minutes of Fulham following the likes of Derby and Sheffield Wednesday, Burton manager Clough said: "Fulham deserved a point at least and dominated for long spells in the game. It's hard to hold out for that long. I wasn't surprised six minutes was added on.
"We are disappointed now but without a doubt when we go on the bus it will become a brilliant point. We had a makeshift team out so to get a draw is a superb result for us.
"We've been to Molineux on the weekend and here to Fulham and got two draws against two big teams. Of course we have to dig in and defend at times.
"But we have to turn these draw into wins. We keep saying we could have and should have won."
Burton were up against it but somehow opened the scoring through Australia international Irvine, slotting home in the 50th minute following Stuart Beavon's pass.
Fulham were fast running out of ideas but teenage winger Sessegnon, who became the Championship's youngest scorer last month, popped up to fire home the rebound after goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin spilled Sone Aluko's shot.
Clough praised £250,000 record signing Irvine and added: "There's a lot of money sloshing around the Championship. We haven't got millions but we've spent a quarter of a million which is our transfer record. But he has been superb for us. It was the first one he has scored with his feet."
Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic was relieved his side did not fall to successive home defeats and said: "It was important not to lose two home games in a row. We have to be the more clinical and score the goals and they score with their first shot.
"I have to be satisfied when you score the goal in extra-time. It was some kind of salvation but you generally believe, especially in our stadium, that we can win our home games."
The Serbian praised Sessegnon, who showed a cool head to haul Fulham level late on. He added: "Ryan's only 16 and a few months. We feel he has a very happy, bright future in front of him. Always when I give him a chance he performs enough to prove me right.
"I don't want to compare to the past or last season. We have a completely new team. Some players have only worked a few weeks with us. Sometimes you need years but I understand in football I don't have time. We are still trying to find a solution to be more clinical."
