Murphy seals Crewe win

Luke Murphy's strike proved the difference as Crewe saw off Burton 3-2.

Goals either side of the break from Danny Shelley and Ashley Westwood put Crewe in the driving seat before Callum Driver pulled one back for the visitors. Murphy put Crewe two up again before Calvin Zola netted in injury time for Albion.

Andreas Gurrieri almost gave the visitors an early lead but the livewire winger prodded Zola's centre the wrong side of the post. Alex soon took control, however, and Shaun Miller was denied by visiting keeper Ross Atkins before Adam Bolder cleared another Miller effort off the line.

Crewe finally broke the deadlock with 29 minutes gone. Nick Powell's sublime chip found Shelley unmarked on the edge of the box and the winger dispatched a low right-footed strike into the far corner of the net.

Westwood drilled Shelley's cutback into the roof of the net to give the Alex a two-goal cushion in the 55th minute but, two minutes later, Driver raced onto Bolder's through-ball to hand the Brewers a lifeline.

Zola was denied by a last-ditch block by James Tunnicliffe before the striker fired a golden opportunity wide from eight yards out. But Luke Murphy restored Crewe's two-goal advantage, racing into the box to score with three minutes to go before Zola netted from a tight angle in injury time.
