Bury 1-0 Burton Albion: Report

13 April 2011 00:29
Shakers move into second Nine-man Bury climbed to second in League Two after a 1-0 win against struggling Burton. Tom Lees' header sealed the points after the Shakers had seen both Damien Mozika and Efe Sodje sent off. Burton were also reduced to 10 men, with Sam Winnall given his marching orders in a tense encounter. A dull first half did not get going until 10 minutes before the break, when Greg Pearson had a header cleared off the line by Ryan Lowe. The hosts enjoyed another escape when John McGrath fired wide but were not so lucky when Mozika saw red for a two-footed challenge on the Burton midfielder. Burton attempted to make their advantage count after the break and Pearson was twice denied by the legs of keeper Cameron Belford. But the game was thrown wide open when Winnall was sent off for an over-enthusiastic challenge on Steve Schumacher. Bury clinched victory when Lees headed home Peter Sweeney's in-swinging corner 14 minutes from time before Sodje was red-carded late on after a clash with Lewis Young.
