Brewers to field loan duo Burton boss Gary Rowett will include loan signings Rob Kiernan and Adam Rooney in his squad for the visit of Northampton. Injuries forced Rowett into the transfer market this week, with defender Kiernan brought in from Wigan and winger Rooney borrowed from Swindon. With Marcus Holness (hamstring) already sidelined, Nathan Stanton suffered an Achilles injury in the Capital One Cup defeat at Bradford on Tuesday night. That left Zander Diamond as the only senior centre-back at the club - until Kiernan's arrival. On-loan Blackburn right-back Anthony O'Connor deputised for Stanton during the second half against Bradford. Rooney will add to Rowett's options on the wing with Chris Palmer (ankle) and Jimmy Phillips (foot) also both currently injured. Midfielder Jacques Maghoma and strikers Calvin Zola and Matthew Paterson could return to the starting line-up after they were rested in the cup in midweek. Clive Platt is likely to return to the Northampton squad. Platt did not feature against Chesterfield last weekend after being told by manager Aidy Boothroyd to rest his calf injury. The 34-year-old striker has been playing with the problem for a number of weeks. "It might have been a different game if we'd had Clive on the bench to bring into it, but it was right that he rested it because it has been niggling him for a while," said Boothroyd, referring to the goalless stalemate against the Spireites. "He was desperate to play but I told him he couldn't. That shows you what characters we have got at the club." Saturday's game at the Pirelli Stadium will be the last of Danny East's loan spell before he returns to parent club Hull. Boothroyd must decide whether to stick with East at right-back or recall John Johnson. Giving little away regarding his team selection, the Town boss said: "Some players need to be brought back in, some deserve to be back in and sometimes people need shaking up, and that is the job that I've got." Teenage midfielder Kemar Roofe is available for selection after arriving from West Brom on a month's loan on Thursday.
