Angry Jimmy to make Burton changes

Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was left angered by his side's performance at the weekend and will make some changes against his former club Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup.

Despite beating Peterborough 2-1 on Saturday, Hasselbaink, who plied his trade as a striker for Boro between 2004 and 2006, labelled his team's display "rubbish" and accused some players of being "sloppy" and "arrogant."

Asked whether certain individuals had played their way out of contention for Tuesday night's second-round tie, the Dutchman said: "Yes, yes. Definitely."

The game will probably come too soon for on-loan Wolves winger Zeli Ismail (knee), while the versatile Darius Charles is also still waiting to make his Albion debut as he works his way back to full fitness after a leg problem.

Boro head coach Aitor Karanka is expected to shuffle his pack once again with one eye on Saturday's Sky Bet Championship trip to Sheffield Wednesday after making changes at the weekend, only to see his side go down 1-0 at home to Bristol City.

Ben Gibson, Albert Adomah, Diego Fabbrini and Kike all started on the bench, to the surprise of many, as Emilio Nsue, Yanic Wildschut, Cristhian Stuani and David Nugent got the nod, with the Spaniard later citing fatigue as the reason for his decision.

Adomah, Fabbrini and Kike were all used as second-half substitutes, but Karanka used the depth of his squad for the first round win at Oldham and is likely to do so again at the Pirelli Stadium.

Central defender Jonathan Woodgate has returned to training, but Damia Abella, Rhys Williams and Alex Baptiste are still sidelined.
