Nigel Clough waiting on Robbie Weir ahead of Doncaster clash

Robbie Weir is a doubt for Nigel Clough's first match back as Burton boss against Doncaster.

The midfielder has not trained much this week and will be checked on after sustaining a foot injury in the win at Gillingham, where Clough was absent due to an overseas commitment made prior to his return as manager.

Central defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff continued to step up his recovery from a groin injury by playing an hour in a 6-0 Birmingham Senior Cup victory at Bedworth United in midweek.

Zeli Ismail is running again as he regains fitness following an ankle injury but the on-loan Wolves winger will not be ready for first-team contention until after Christmas.

Doncaster will be without defender Gary MacKenzie as he has been ruled out until the new year with an ankle injury.

MacKenzie, who has managed just 10 appearances this season due to a string of injuries and suspension, picked up the problem in an under-21s fixture last week and will now spend the festive schedule with his feet up.

Dany N'Guessan returned to training on Thursday after a hamstring injury but the visit to the Brewers may comes too soon.

Defender Felipe Mattioni has started running after a foot injury and boss Darren Ferguson will monitor his fitness in the build-up to kick-off.
