Rowett expect to shuffle pack

Burton boss Gary Rowett is expected to freshen up his side for the visit of promotion rivals Cheltenham.

Following three successive victories with an unchanged line-up, Rowett opted to stick once more against Bristol Rovers last weekend but saw his players produce a jaded performance in losing 3-0 at the Memorial Stadium.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing," said Rowett. "I spoke about it (making changes) in the week but it is very difficult when you have been winning games.

"You change it and lose 4-0 and you did the wrong thing. I just felt I would give them the opportunity to see if we could keep going.

"But we just didn't show the same energy levels and the same intensity we have seen in the last seven performances, we just weren't at the races."

Captain Zander Diamond was on the bench against Rovers on his return from a four-match ban while striker Calvin Zola will also be itching for a recall.

Defender Andrew Corbett, midfielders Jimmy Phillips, Jack Dyer and Adam Drury and striker Matthew Paterson have all also had to settle for places on the bench recently and are options for Rowett.

Cheltenham have been handed an injury boost with the news that Darren Carter should be available.

The former West Brom and Birmingham midfielder came off in the 1-0 win over Chesterfield on Tuesday night with a niggle but the injury has been dealt with and he is expected to retain his place in midfield.

One player who will not feature is young defender Luke McCullough, who has returned to parent club Manchester United after being recalled from his loan spell following just one appearance.

Jermaine McGlashan and Byron Harrison are pushing for starts should manager Mark Yates decide to shuffle his pack against a side just two points behind the Robins in the npower League Two table.
