Symes out for Brewers

Michael Symes is a new injury absentee for Burton ahead of the visit of Bristol Rovers.

Symes sustained a groin injury during the 2-0 defeat at Dagenham last weekend and he will miss out against the Pirates, joining Rory Delap on the sidelines.

Delap suffered a setback in his recovery from an ongoing hamstring problem a couple of weeks ago. The former Derby and Stoke midfielder has not featured for Albion since a 2-0 home defeat to Oxford on September 7.

He and Symes will still be absent on Tuesday night when Mansfield visit the Pirelli Stadium, according to Burton boss Gary Rowett.

Bristol Rovers will assess Seanan Clucas ahead of the trip.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international returned from their qualifiers with an injury which will be assessed in the build up to kick-off with the Brewers.

Manager John Ward was only able to name six substitutes for their 3-2 FA Cup victory over York on Tuesday after Ryan Brunt's swollen knee but the former Stoke man could be involved along with fellow striker Matt Harrold, who was being protected with the games coming thick and fast.

Winger Alefe Santos will not feature after suffering a hamstring strain at the weekend but Will Packwood will return after he was not given permission to play in the cup tie by parent club Birmingham.
