Sub Mukendi sees red for Macc

Vinny Mukendi was sensationally given his marching orders - only 11 seconds after being sent on as a substitute by Macclesfield in the 1-0 defeat at Burton.

Mukendi was red-carded for elbowing Burton defender Ryan Austin straight after the restart of play, after being brought on by Macc boss Gary Simpson as an attacking reinforcement.

In the end, the Silkmen were also left to rue a string of missed chances, while Burton could count themselves to be fortunate to be in front at half time.

The visitors' goal came as something of a gift in the 11th minute when Elliott Hewitt's stray pass gave Jacques Maghoma a shooting opportunity that was partially saved by Jose Veiga, before Billy Kee pounced to net his eighth of the season.

The visitors quickly had chances to level as Burton struggled at the back. Ross Draper and Scott Boden both found themselves unmarked 10 yards out but failed to hit the target with only home keeper Ross Atkins to beat, and Boden squandered another chance to level the scores.

Substitute Jimmy Phillips could have wrapped it up for the Brewers but shot wide of a gaping net in the 68th minute.
