Shots smash beleaguered Burton

Aldershot completed an emphatic double over managerless Burton with a 4-0 thrashing at the Pirelli Stadium.

Fragile after a 7-1 beating at Bristol Rovers, the Brewers offered only flimsy resistance as Dean Holdsworth's side followed up their midweek victory over league leaders Swindon with a professional display.

Both keepers made excellent saves in a lively start, Burton's Ross Atkins getting a strong hand to a fierce shot from Wilko Risser and opposite number Jamie Young denying Greg Pearson with a reflex save.

The Shots went in front in the 16th minute after the hosts failed to clear Mark Molesley's free-kick and Peter Vincenti rifled in a 10-yard shot. Danny Hylton then went close to stretching the Shots' lead with a curling free-kick in the 35th minute.

Pearson missed the target with a rare Burton chance before the visitors made the most of more poor defending to double their lead in the 61st minute when Risser headed in an Aaron Morris cross from close range.

And the visitors added their third and fourth goals through Guy Madjo with almost embarrassing ease. The striker was on hand to tap in Anthony Straker's cross in the 76th minute and headed the Shots' fourth after his initial shot had been scooped into the air by Atkins.
