Quick-fire Shrimps see off Brewers

Morecambe struck twice in as many minutes after the break to grab a 2-0 win at promotion rivals Burton.

Kevin Ellison gave the Shrimps the lead with his sixth goal of the season and quickly had a hand in helping Alex Kenyon to double the visitors' lead.

Burton had all the chances before the break but Morecambe battled to stay on level terms.

Home midfielder Robbie Weir had a shot pushed round a post early on, while Adam McGurk fired too high from a good position and Alex MacDonald could only head into the arms of Barry Roche.

And it took the heroics of Andy Parrish to deny Burton in the 34th minute when the defender miraculously cleared shots from Jacob Blyth and Lucas Akins off the line in a goalmouth melee.

The visitors showed more attacking intent after the restart and went in front in the 59th minute.

Padraig Amond headed back from the far post for Ellison to lash home an eight-yard shot.

Two minutes later Kenyon was on hand to score from close-range after Ellison's header had been pushed out by Jon McLaughlin.
