Brewers' trialists shine

Trialists Axel Bossekota and Jack Dyer were on target as Burton got their pre-season off to a winning start by beating Ilkeston 2-1 at the New Manor Ground. Bossekota fired the Brewers into the lead in the 34 minute, curling his effort into the back of the net from 20 yards. They doubled their advantage two minutes before half-time when Richard Walker held up a long ball out of defence and his precise pass found Jack Dyer, who made no mistake. The Blue Square Bet North side pulled a goal back in the 59th minute as Ryan Grant beat Adam Legzdins to a long ball upfield to lob into an empty net. Experienced striker Chukki Eribenne wasted a late chance to equalise when he poked a low cross wide from 15 yards.
