Brewers beaten by brilliant Bencherif

Burton went down 2-1 at Macclesfield as Algerian midfielder Hamza Bencherif continued his fabulous form. Bencherif has now scored five goals in 12 starts following his return from nine months on the sidelines with a broken ankle. The opener came in the 29th minute when Burton allowed a Lewis Chalmers cross to bounce in the box for Bencherif to nod over the advancing Adam Legzdins and into the far corner. They extended their lead two minutes after the break when Ryan Austin brought down Ross Draper inches outside the box. Chalmers touched the free kick to Bencherif who drilled a low drive inside the near post. The Algerian might have had his hat-trick but after ghosting in at the far post headed across the face of goal from six yards. Burton set up a tense finale when Scott Malone pulled the ball back from the by-line for James Collins to drive home from 10 yards.
