Your chance to select the last month's best goal

03 May 2012 16:47
The voting us underway for the last goal of the month of the season, that for April, with just five goals to select from with the Clarets netting just six times in seven games during the month.

Danny Ings got the first and last of them, and there are also two Charlie Austin goals to consider and one from Josh McQuoid.

The first Ings goal came in the home defeat against Birmingham who got in front of the visiting defenders to head home after a right footed Ross Wallace cross from the left.

Four days later Charlie Austin scored the only goal of the game against Brighton. He received the ball from Josh McQuoid and then, when his first shot was blocked, took it past the goalkeeper before scoring with a left foot shot.

That goal was on Good Friday and on Easter Monday Josh McQuoid gave us the lead at Doncaster with a stunning finish after a knock down from a long kick by Lee Grant. We won the game 2-1 with the other goal coming via an Austin penalty.

Austin got his second entry into the vote, however, in the next home game, scoring against Coventry against the  run of play. Like Ings' goal against Birmingham it came from a Wallace cross which Austin headed beyond Coventry goalkeeper Joe Murphy.

The last goal, from Ings, was our last goal of the season in the 1-1 draw against Bristol City last Saturday, giving us the lead with just around a quarter of an hour to go.

The vote for the April Goal of the Month will run until the end of Saturday and next week we'll feature the Goal of the Season vote which will feature all of the monthly winners.

Those monthly winners have been Austin (August v Burton), Andre Amougou (September v MK Franchise), Wallace (October v Blackpool), Jay Rodriguez (November v Hull), Kieran Trippier (December v Brighton), Austin (January v Leeds), Rodriguez (February v Peterborough) and Trippier (March v Portsmouth).

You can vote either via the front page or the VOTING POLLS page.
