Wright is tonight's referee

Kevin Wright from Peterborough will referee tonight's home game against Middlesbrough. It will be his second Burnley game this season having stood in at the eleventh hour for our league game at Barnsley.

He stood in for Phil Gibbs that night but tonight he's the chosen referee for a Burnley game for the first time on over six years. That was a home game against Birmingham when we lost 2-1 after Chris McCann had given us an early lead.

We didn't have much of a problem with him at Barnsley and I can't recall too much although my only criticism of him in previous games is that he'd let things go too much, but rather that than the whistle happy style we got in our last home game with Darren Drysdale.

This season hasn't been the busiest for him and tonight will be just his 12th game.

He kicked off his season at Tranmere in October when he sent off Yeovil's Joe Edwards in a game Tranmere won 3-2.

The only other red card this season was in the League Two game at Spotland between Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon. Rochdale lost that game 1-0 and also so Joseph Rafferty sent off.

There have been 34 yellow cards in the eleven games. Of those, 14 have gone to home team players and 20 to away team players.

The list of home players carded includes Blackburn's Colin Kazim-Richards who was the only player carded in Wright's last game, their home game against Ipswich a week last Saturday.

His assistant referees tonight at Ken Haycock (West Yorkshire) and Paul Hodskinson (Lancashire) and his fourth official is Bob Roberts (also Lancashire).
