Would you like the option to stand at football?

It's been a long standing debate and one that continues. Do you think there should be some provision for football supporters to stand when watching their team play?

We've been contacted by the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) who are asking for your support as they step up their Safe Standing Campaign.

Over the past 18 months they, along with Stand Up Sit Down, have successfully brought this issue to the attention of the national media and last week stepped up the Parliamentary lobbying campaign with Early Day Motion 573 which was tabled by Roger Godsiff MP and supported by Premier League club Aston Villa and Championship club Peterborough United.

The EDM calls for the Secretary of State for the Department of Culture Media and Sport to relax the law on standing sufficiently to allow a trial of a type of new safe standing technology.

To support the EDM and educate MPs to the arguments behind safe standing they have also arranged an event in Parliament on Tuesday 11th December which will show the 'rail seat' safe standing model.

The FSF need your help and you can do that in four ways as follows.

1. Sign the FSF Safe Standing Petition (if you haven't already done so).

2. Email or visit your MP and ask them to sign Roger Godsiff's Safe Standing EDM 573. You can find your local MP at THEY WORK FOR YOU and you can download a TEMPLATE EMAIL outlining the case for safe standing.

3. Email the FSF to let them know what response you get. They can then keep track of which MPs are signing and follow up those who don't.

4. Spread the word. Let people know about it through whatever means you use, be it supporters' organisations, websites or social media such as Twitter.
