Woodhead joins Barrow

Ben Woodhead this week became the latest player with Burnley connections to join Barrow and he went straight into their squad for the Blue Square Premier League game at Wrexham.

Ben, one of two goalkeepers in the youth squad last season, trained in pre-season with Morecambe but has more recently been back at Burnley working alongside academy goalkeeping coach Craig Mawson with our young goalkeepers.

However, an injury to second string goalkeeper Shaun Pearson left Barrow with no cover for first team regular Danny Hurst and have called in Ben, on a non-contract basis, with Pearson now recovering from knee surgery.

Dean Overson and Ben Hoskin have also had short spells with Barrow this season but Woodhead will still see some familiar faces at Holker Street with former team mates from Turf Moor Tom Anderson and Joe Jackson there on loan and Alex-Ray Harvey, who himself is recovering from knee surgery, there on a full time basis.

Woodhead was the named goalkeeper on the bench on Tuesday as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Racecourse Ground.
