Who starred for Burnley in the 1980s?

It's voting time again and we are asking you to vote for who you consider was Burnley's best player during the 1980s, arguably the worst decade in Burnley history as the club slumped into the fourth division and almost even worse. It all started with our first ever season outside the top two divisions, with Tommy Cassidy scoring in a 1-1 draw at home against Newport County, and it came to an end with a fifth successive season in the fourth division and a 2-1 win at Colchester United. A total of 116 players were used in league football during the decade, just a few less than in the following two decades and a list of those players were placed in a message board thread with posters asked to nominate their top five. Those nominations have been counted up and the top fifteen players have been placed in a voting pool on the front page of the site. They have been listed in alphabetical order from Ian Britton (1986-1989) the scorer of that so crucial goal to Alan Stevenson who was the regular goalkeeper in the first three seasons of the decade. You can also now leave your nominations for the best five players of the 1970s in a thread started today on the message board. The voting poll for the 1980s player will run until the end of Sunday.
