West Ham defeated Cardiff 3-2 at the Boleyn Ground last night and now the two sides will meet for just the second time in the competition and Burnley will be hoping things go somewhat better than they did on that previous occasion.
It was in the 1980/81 season, our first outside the top two divisions. We'd beaten Wrexham in the first round and were drawn against West Ham in round 2. We lost the first leg 2-0 at home and it was even worse in the second leg when we suffered a 4-0 defeat.
This clash will be played in week commencing 28th October. The likely date is Wednesday 29th October given that West Ham's game on the previous weekend, at Swansea, will be played on the Sunday.
