Wednesday still want Treacy

Keith Treacy ended last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and news from South Yorkshire this morning suggests that Dave Jones would like to take the Republic of Ireland international to Hillsborough on a permanent basis.

Treacy well and truly fell out of favour at Burnley. He started the game against Millwall on but was taken off at half time with Brian Easton preferred in the second half. That was in late February, and a month later, on the last day of the loan window, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday for the remainder of the season.

He made seven appearances for the Owls. Five of those were as a substitute but significantly he started the last  two games, scoring in the 2-1 win at Brentford, the win which took them into the top two.

It seemed the interest in him had waned but Jones is still keen to sign him but it appears no agreement has yet been reached with Burnley requiring a fee.

Treacy was signed last summer from Preston on a three year contract but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him move on before the start of next season.
