Webster will blow the final whistle
Coronation Street's Rosie Webster was at Turf Moor recently for the home game against Swansea but it will be Colin Webster who blows the final whistle on the 2010/11 season when he referees our last game against Cardiff City. Webster, from Tyne & Wear, is no stranger to Burnley games and this will not be his first game between Burnley and Cardiff. It's his third Burnley game of the season; and just as he ends the season tomorrow he also started it as referee of our game against Nottingham Forest in August.HIs other Burnley game this season was the Boxing Day win at Barnsley whilst he was the man in charge the last time Burnley and Cardiff met at Turf Moor in December 2008, a game that ended 2-2.He's a good referee to have generally. He won't nit pick and he'll do his utmost to let the players get on with playing and will often fade into the background.He isn't afraid to use his cards and no less than four players have been sent off when he's refereed us. Chris Morgan (Barnsley) went in the 2000/01 season and he's also dismissed Arthur Gnohere, Frank SInclair and Andy Gray.This season he's refereed 30 games in which he's used his yellow card 86 times and his red card three times. Of those yellow cards, 41 have gone to home players and 45 to away players. He's not sent anyone off since November.His last game was on Easter Monday, the 1-1 draw between QPR and Hull at Loftus Road. The three players yellow carded were all Hull players - Andy Dawson, Richard Garcia and Anthony Gerrard.The assistant referees tomorrow are Russell Fletcher (Derbyshire) and Steve Bratt (West Midlands). The fourth official is Football League referee David Foster (Tyne & Wear. Bratt is a former referee who has refereed us twice, the last occasion being the home game against Watford in the promotion season.
