Vokes staying at Wolves

There will be no quick return to Turf Moor for striker Sam Vokes who returned to Wolves after the win at Middlesbrough and could feature for them in tonight's FA Cup replay.

With both Junior Stanislas and Martin Paterson suffering hamstring injuries in the win at the Riverside Eddie Howe said he would speak to Wolves' boss Mick McCarthy to try and extend Vokes' stay at Turf Moor.

However, certainly in the immediate future, Vokes will not be returning to Burnley and McCarthy said: “Sam Vokes is back and there’s quite a bit of interest in him, so we’ll see. I’m not going to make any decisions on him or others yet."

Vokes, meanwhile, has said: "My job was to come in and play some games and score goals and I would like to think I've done that. I haven't played as many games as I would have liked, but that reflects well on the club with the competition they have got up front at the moment.

"Obviously I got on with the gaffer before, but it's been fantastic. It's been a great time. I have enjoyed it and got to make some good mates here. I will keep in touch and hopefully they can push on for the rest of the season."
