Viduka could return Down Under
Viduka, 33, fell out of contract with Newcastle at the end of last season and has since been linked with the Premier League trio.
However, with a deal yet to materialise it looks likely the Melbourne-born striker will return to his native country after 11 years in Europe.
Melbourne chief executive Geoff Lord admits it would be a great move for the club to secure his signature as they prepare for next year's Asian Champions League.
"One could use (Viduka) as a guest player. One could use him in lots of ways," he told Australian newspaper The Age.
"Three years ago he was appointed international ambassador to Melbourne Victory, so he has some allegiances here.
"We don't know what that might lead to until we explore the situation. We have talked to him about a couple of opportunities, not just playing."
Striker Archie Thompson is currently signed as Melbourne's marquee player so his wages do not count towards the league's salary cap.
That paves the way for Viduka, however, the club would need to negotiate a suitable deal which suits both the player and the League's guidelines.
