Treacy and MacDonald win caps

Keith Treacy and Alex MacDonald both pulled on their national shirts today and were used as substitutes for the Republic of Ireland and Scotland respectively. Keith Treacy - our first Republic of Ireland international It was Alex first this afternoon when he came on as a substitute for Scotland under-21s after 58 minutes against Norway at St. Mirren, replacing Johnny Russell. At the time the score was 1-0 to the Scots through Tom Cairney with Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Jack adding further goals to give them a 3-0 win. This evening Keith Treacy became the first ever current Burnley player to be capped at full international level for the Republic of Ireland. Against Croatia, in a game that ended 0-0, he came on with seven minutes remaining for Damien Duff at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The Republic of Ireland become the 12th country to field a current Burnley player at international level alongside the four home countries plus Albania, Cameroon, Canada, Greece, Iceland, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago. Both players will return to Turf Moor now as we prepare for the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
