Top four all win midweek games

03 February 2011 17:36
The Championship's top four all won their midweek games with second place Norwich having to come from behind, whilst the two clubs in fifth and sixth places, Cardiff and Leeds, snatched draws having been behind. Norwich did to Millwall just what they did to us in November by coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with a stoppage time equaliser, this one from loan player Henri Lansbury. They weren't the only promotion chasers either who found themselves behind. Leeds, yet again were behind and came back. This time they trailed 2-0 at Hull but earned themselves a point whilst Cardiff's equaliser at home to Reading was as late as it could have been.Reading went 2-1 up in the fourth minute of stoppage time but Craig Bellamy got their equaliser three minutes later. It all means no change for the top six other than Cardiff dropping a couple of places, but at the bottom of the league Sheffield United have replaced Crystal Palace in the relegation positions, ahead of Scunthorpe and Preston who were both beaten again. The bottom two really do have a fight on their hands now. It's just two points from the last seven games for Preston whilst Scunthorpe haven't won a point, other than the four they got from us, since the first Saturday in November, the day we got that draw at Norwich. The midweek results and stats are below along with the leading goalscorers, each club's disciplinary record and the next fixtures. The Midweek ResultsTuesday 1st FebruaryBarnsley 2 Preston 0Hull 2 Leeds 2Bristol City 0 Swansea 2Middlesbrough 2 Scunthorpe 0Cardiff 2 Reading 2Norwich 2 Millwall 1Coventry 1 Nottingham Forest 2QPR 2 Portsmouth 0Derby 1 Ipswich 2Sheffield United 0 Leicester 1Doncaster 1 Burnley 0Watford 1 Crystal Palace 1The Midweek StatsBiggest winBarnsley 2-0 v Preston (home)Middlesbrough 2-0 v Scunthorpe (home)QPR 2-0 v Portsmouth (home)Swansea 2-0 v Bristol City (a)Total goals scored29 (16 home - 13 away)Player scoring most goals2 - Darren Pratley (Swansea)Highest Attendance24,571 - Norwich v MillwallLowest Attendance8,893 - Doncaster v BurnleyTotal Yellow Cards40Total Red Cards1Most cards in a gameMiddlesbrough v Scunthorpe (8Y 1R) - Rob LewisThe leading scorers (league only)15Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff)Danny Graham (Watford) - includes 1 penalty14Adel Taarabt (QPR) - includes 5 penalties13Luciano Becchio (Leeds)Kriss Commons (Derby) - includes 2 penalties12Billy Sharp (Doncaster) - includes 4 penalties11Shane Long (Reading) - includes 4 penaltiesLewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest) - includes 2 penaltiesSteve Morison (Millwall) - includes 1 penaltyScott Sinclair (Swansea) - includes 3 penalties10Grant Holt (Norwich)Chris Iwelumo (Burnley)Andy King (Leicester)Marvin Sordell (Watford)9Max Gradel (Leeds) - includes 1 penaltyJamie Mackie (QPR) Davide Somma (Leeds)8Ched Evans (Sheffield United) - includes 1 penaltyAdam Hammill (Barnsley)James Hayter (Doncaster)Wes Hoolahan (Norwich) - includes 4 penaltiesJon Parkin (Cardiff) - includes 7 goals for PrestonBrett Pitman (Bristol City) - includes 3 penaltiesHat Tricks (league only)11th Sep3 - Chris Iwelumo - BURNLEY v Preston14th Sep3 - James Coppinger - DONCASTER v Norwich14th Sep3 - James Vaughan - CRYSTAL PALACE v Portsmouth28th Sep3 - Jon Parkin - Leeds v PRESTON30th Oct3 - Jonny Howson - Scunthorpe v LEEDS13th Nov3 - Luciano Becchio - LEEDS v Bristol City27th Nov3 - Grant Holt - NORWICH v Leeds28th Dec3 - Wes Hoolahan - NORWICH v Sheffield United1st Jan3 - Jason Puncheon - MILLWALL v Crystal PalaceDisciplinary Record (all domestic games)ClubYRClubYRBarnsley412Middlesbrough421Bristol City422Millwall424Burnley544Norwich503Cardiff371Nottingham Forest400Coventry463Portsmouth515Crystal Palace505Preston635Derby512QPR464Doncaster343Reading453Hull562Scunthorpe312Ipswich464Sheffield United445Leeds612Swansea482Leicester342Watford290The Next FixturesFriday 4th FebruaryReading v QPR.Saturday 5th FebruaryBurnley v NorwichMillwall v DoncasterCrystal Palace v MiddlesbroughNottingham Forest v WatfordIpswich v Sheffield UnitedPortsmouth v DerbyLeeds v CoventryPreston v Bristol CityLeicester v BarnsleyScunthorpe v HullSunday 6th FebruarySwansea v Cardiff (13:15).
