Three midweek games but little change

The two clubs who stood to benefit most from the three re-arranged games on Monday were Burnley and Scunthorpe but neither did as Burnley failed to beat Coventry and Scunthorpe suffered a catastrophic home defeat against bottom club Preston. So, Phil Brown has finally done it. He was appointed as Preston manager on 5th January and their 3-0 win at Scunthorpe was their first win in 13 attempts since his appointment and a first win for Brown since the beginning of February last year when Hull beat Manchester City. The win has moved them within four points of Sheffield United but they remain ten points from safety. A Scunthorpe win would have seen them edge to within one point of to Crystal Palace but they turned in one of their worst performances of the season and conceded three goals in an eleven minute spell in the first half. The performance and result cost Ian Baraclough his job whilst for Preston and Brown it gives them a glimmer of hope after winning what he'd said was their biggest game of the season.Whilst Scunthorpe failed to get within one point of safety so we failed to get within one point of the play offs after drawing with Scunthorpe and in the other game played it was another 3-0 away win, this time for Watford at Ipswich. We've just gone one set of fixtures remaining before the last international break of the season with Burnley travelling to Ashton Gate to play Bristol City.Tuesday's result and the stats are shown below along with the league's leading goalscorers, each club's disciplinary record and Saturday's fixtures. The Weekend ResultsTuesday 15th MarchBurnley 2 Coventry 2Scunthorpe 0 Preston 3Ipswich 0 Watford 3The Weekend StatsBiggest winPreston 3-0 v Scunthorpe (away)Watford 3-0 v Ipswich (away)Total goals scored10 (2 home - 8 away)Player scoring most goals2 - Jay Rodriguez (Burnley)Highest Attendance17,789 - Ipswich v WatfordLowest Attendance4,190 - Scunthorpe v PrestonTotal Yellow Cards7Total Red Cards0Most cards in a gameBurnley v Coventry (4Y) - Michael NaylorThe leading scorers (league only)21Danny Graham (Watford) - includes 1 penalty18Shane Long (Reading) - includes 5 penalties16Luciano Becchio (Leeds)Grant Holt (Norwich) - includes 2 penalties15Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff)Bill Sharp (Doncaster) - includes 4 penaltiesScott Sinclair (Swansea) - includes 5 penaltiesAdel Taarabt (QPR) - includes 6 penalties14Max Gradel (Leeds) - includes 2 penalties13Kris Commons (Derby) - includes 2 penaltiesAndy King (Leicester)12Heidar Helguson (QPR) - includes 5 penaltiesSteve Morison (Millwall) - includes 1 penalty11Chris Iwelumo (Burnley)Lewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest) - includes 2 penaltiesJay Rodriguez (Burnley)Davide Somma (Leeds)10Wes Hoolahan (Norwich) - includes 4 penaltiesLeroy Lita (Middlesbrough) - includes 2 penaltiesDavid Nugent (Portsmouth)Brett Pitman (Bristol City) - includes 3 penaltiesMarvin Sordell (Watford)Hat Tricks (league only)11th Sep3 - Chris Iwelumo - BURNLEY v Preston14th Sep3 - James Coppinger - DONCASTER v Norwich14th Sep3 - James Vaughan - CRYSTAL PALACE v Portsmouth28th Sep3 - Jon Parkin - Leeds v PRESTON30th Oct3 - Jonny Howson - Scunthorpe v LEEDS13th Nov3 - Luciano Becchio - LEEDS v Bristol City27th Nov3 - Grant Holt - NORWICH v Leeds28th Dec3 - Wes Hoolahan - NORWICH v Sheffield United1st Jan3 - Jason Puncheon - MILLWALL v Crystal Palace5th Feb3 - Matt Fryatt - Scunthorpe v HULL15th Feb3 - Connor Wickham - Doncaster v IPSWICHDisciplinary Record (all domestic games)ClubYRClubYRBarnsley552Middlesbrough521Bristol City472Millwall544Burnley654Norwich623Cardiff481Nottingham Forest541Coventry575Portsmouth656Crystal Palace686Preston755Derby642QPR586Doncaster413Reading604Hull662Scunthorpe452Ipswich554Sheffield United6010Leeds743Swansea572Leicester432Watford421The Next FixturesSaturday 15th MarchBarnsley v ReadingLeicester v PortsmouthBristol City v BurnleyMiddlesbrough v WatfordCrystal Palace v DerbyMillwall v CardiffDoncaster v QPRPreston v CoventryHull v NorwichSheffield United v Leeds (13:00)Ipswich v ScunthorpeSwansea v Nottingham Forest
