Three goal Edgar in Rochdale friendly

Central defender David Edgar had a good afternoon today, scoring three times in a behind closed doors friendly at Gawthorpe in a 6-0 win against Rochdale. Three goals for David Edgar

This was not a development squad friendly but a game for those members of the first team who haven't been getting too much football giving manager Sean Dyche an opportunity to take a look at them in match action.

Edgar certainly caught the eye with three and he was the first player to score when he headed home a Cameron Stewart corner, and that lead was doubled on 20 minutes when Wes Fletcher, now very much involved with the first team squad, hitting home a left foot shot.

Sam Vokes hit the woodwork from a Keith Treacy cross but there was just about a repeat of the first goal as Edgar converted a Stewart corner to take the score to 3-0 by half time.

Fletcher got his second just after half time with a good finish after receiving the ball from Treacy and when Vokes was fouled it was Edgar who stepped up to take the penalty to complete his hat trick.

There was just one more goal to come and that was from Treacy whose shot was deflected in. SO that was three goals in each half and when Danny Ings hit the bar it added to the one from Vokes in the first half.

The Burnley team was: Brian Jensen, Luke O'Neill, Kevin Long, David Edgar, Joseph Mills, Marvin Bartley, Cameron Stewart, Danny Ings, Keith Treacy, Wes Fletcher (George Porter 55), Sam Vokes.
