urnley striker Steven Thompson insists his team-mates still believe they can save themselves from the relegation trapdoor this season.[LNB] The Clarets edged closer to the drop at the weekend after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.[LNB]Thompson scored a second-half consolation for Burnley, who are now four points behind fourth-from-bottom West Ham.[LNB]The former Rangers and Cardiff City striker thinks that two wins from their final three league outings could be enough to stay up.[LNB]"As a professional you have to believe. If you didn't then you probably shouldn't be in a job should you?" he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.[LNB]"We are capable of doing it, and we do believe we can do it. It's just whether we can put the words onto the pitch and turn them into performances. [LNB]"We've got three games left and need to win two of them. [LNB]"It's a difficult thing to do but we've got to keep going and believe we can do it because if we don't then you're as well just giving up."
