Thompson agrees new Clarets contract

urnley striker Steven Thompson has agreed a new one-year contract with the option of a further 12-month extension at Turf Moor.[LNB] The 31-year-old, who made just one Premier League start, finished the season in style with four goals in the last six matches.[LNB]"He did really well last season and I'm delighted that he has agreed to stay," said manager Brian Laws.[LNB]"I am delighted to have that experience in the squad and again he is a player who knows what's required to get out of the Championship."[LNB]The former Rangers and Dundee United striker has followed Michael Duff, Clarke Carlisle and Graham Alexander in signing new deals.[LNB]Midfielder Robbie Blake is still considering his contract offer from the Clarets.[LNB]
