Burnley reported two injuries after Saturday's draw at Scunthorpe, one sustained by Clarke Carlisle during the game and the other a long standing problem that is hampering striker Steven Thompson. Steven Thompson - has a groin injuryCarlisle suffered his injury during the latter stages of the first half and continued, after treatment, until the break whilst Thommo has been suffering with a groin problem for some time. It's left manager Eddie Howe waiting for news on the pair before making a decision on whether to strengthen the squad in those areas before the January transfer window closes. He said: "We had an injury to Clarke and it leaves us a body light. He suffered a clash of knees and did well to get to half time, but as yet we don't know how serious that is."In addition, Steven Thompson will be seeing a specialist during the week with a groin problem he had had for a while, so we could be a couple of bodies light and we may need to act with that during the window."We have identified a couple of players, but there is a long way to go and I won't comment on individual names. It is just a case of seeing who we can bring in because the squad is strong and I don't really need to do too much"
