Third Grant offer turned down

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed they turned down a third offer from Burnley last night for Lee Grant. The saga continues with a third, substantially higher, offer having gone in and this too having been turned down by the cash strapped South Yorkshire club.Whilst Sheffield Wednesday are doing their best to convince their supporters that the club's future is not in jeaopardy, it is clear that they need some money coming in.The decision not to accept our latest offer came last night from Hillsborough with manager Alan Irvine again saying: "It was an improved offer, but fell way short of what it would take for us to consider selling him."Things have been complicated with the winding up order meaning Sheffield Wednesday will now be under a transfer embargo until the case is heard on the Wednesday after the start of the Football League season and that means they wouldn't be able to sign a replacement for Grant whose stay at Hillsborough is, nevertheless, clearly coming to an end.Whether Burnley go back with another offer, or move on to other targets now remains to be seen.
