There's a queue for Sharp

Last week it was thought Sheffield United were considering an offer from us for striker Billy Sharp, then Leeds stepped in and now Doncaster are set to go back with an improved bid. Brian Laws - signed Billy Sharp in 2005 when Scunthorpe bossSharp spent most of last season on loan with Doncaster, scoring 15 goals for them in 32 appearances. They wanted to sign him permanently but their offer of £600,000 was swiftly turned down by the Blades. Then, out of the blue, last week it was reported that Burnley had made an offer for the player Brian Laws took to Scunthorpe in 2005. Burnley have said nothing on the matter but it was reported in Sheffield that it was just an enquiry.Even so, it was thought we had a real interest in the player with suggestions that he could become a Claret in the near future. That was until yesterday when one newspaper was reporting that he'd opted for a move to Leeds in a £1 million transfer. But that was yesterday, and today is today, and today's news is that it might be back to Doncaster with their chairman ready to back manager Sean O'Driscoll with a £1.4 million offer.I think the only thing we can say with some certainty is that Sharp won't be at Bramall Lane next season where he is not part of Kevin Blackwell's plans. But where he moves is anyone's guess right now. Maybe there will be others joining the queue.
