Taylor wants Wrexham stay

Former Burnley striker Gareth Taylor has just ended a first season with Blue Square Bet Premier League club Wrexham and wants to remain at the Racecourse Ground next season. Taylor had a successful season with Wrexham in 2009/10, scoring nine goals for them before an ankle injury disrupted the end to his season. He enjoyed it there and despite interest from Football League clubs he would much rather stay put."I want to stay," Taylor said. "I have had a little bit of interest from clubs back in the Football League and while that may seem attractive I want to stay at Wrexham."Deep down that is where I want to play my football next season. The time I had there last season I thoroughly enjoyed, I managed to score some goals and I also did some coaching which was good for me."Wrexham are a huge club that belies its current status. We are where we are though and I want to be able to help Wrexham get their Football League status back. It will be difficult with six or eight teams set to be favourites but we have a good side and I am confident we can give it a real go next season."It's almost seven years since Taylor left Turf Moor with his last competitive game coming for us on the last day of the 2002/03 season. Now 37 years of age he is waiting to hear back from Wrexham. He added: "I am not panicking at the moment. I didn't get myself sorted at Wrexham last season until the end of June so it is not anything to worry about ."It always happens this way in football, people are away and it takes time to get everything sorted out. I will just sit tight and wait for a phone call."Should Taylor sign for Wrexham he will again line up against another former Claret in Frank Sinclair who has already committed to another season with the Welsh club.
