When Millwall are in the news then everyone suspects it is going to be something to do with their supporters, potentially some crowd problems, and they didn't let their detractors down as yet another game at the Den was disrupted.
None of us are fond of losing games. We don't go to see our teams on the wrong end of a scoreline and Millwall were beaten 5-1 at home against Derby, a result that ensured the would end the weekend at the bottom.
They were 3-0 down when the problems occurred, and that was a scoreline that would have seen them above Bolton right now. Adam Smith, a Millwall loan player last season, was reportedly hit by an object thrown at him as he went to take a throw in.
The home fans spilled down to the front and referee Keith Stroud, who had yet another card happy afternoon, was forced to move the players away. While that was going on, on the other side, a fan got into Derby's technical area and pushed Nigel Clough before running across the pitch to safety.
Derby quickly substituted Smith coach with Andy Garner explaining: "I had a quick word with the gaffer and we said 'Let's get him off'. He was on a yellow card anyway, so we were a little bit concerned about that.
"And with the score as it was there was no problem getting Kieron Freeman on to calm the situation down a bit. I'm not saying we did it solely for that reason but it certainly helped the situation, I thought."
This is a serious concern if a manager and his coach are even considering substituting a player for his own safety as Garner has suggested. It sets a worrying precedent and one that football cannot afford to see repeated.
It will be very interesting to see what action is taken here but it does look as though some very serious action has to be taken to ensure that there is no repetition of this.
As for the fan getting onto the pitch towards Clough, and how his dad might have dealt with it did come to mind, I'm not too sure what clubs can do. We had something similar at the Turf on Saturday with a fan getting on, albeit not showing any hostility to anyone. It has to be stopped but we certainly don't want to be looking at anything like fencing returning to our grounds.
The FA are awaiting Stroud's report while the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that 28-year-old Caleb Morley has been charged with going onto the field.
Derby apparently are reluctant to make a complaint and Clough said today: "It is not good to see such scenes but it is not our problem. It is something for Millwall and the authorities to deal with."
The subject of diving came up again at the weekend. Probably most have now seen Ashley Young up to his old tricks for Manchester United in their 2-0 win against Crystal Palace. It prompted Palace chairman Steve Parish to call for straight red cards to be shown.
Young's own boss David Moyes wasn't ready to defend his player either. "I don't want my players diving," he said, and he has said he will let the player know that his actions were unacceptable.
One day on and I sat to watch the last Championship fixture of the weekend, that between Reading and Brighton. This was another game with cards aplenty, including one red for each side.
There's been no debate over the second of them, Brighton's Leo Ulloa. His foot was high, it wasn't intentional but he had to go, the sixth Championship player to see red over the weekend.
Just a few minutes before Reading had Pavel Progrebnyak sent off by referee Graham Scott. I have absolutely no doubts he went down looking for a free kick that wasn't but, unlike the Old Trafford situation, he's been defended by his manager.
The big Russian striker only got a game after clear the air talks with Nigel Adkins who, rather than criticise his player, turned his anger on the referee.
Adkins said: "I didn't think it was a dive, it's a clear foul. I have to be careful what I saw as a lot of managers are getting fined at the moment."
He added: "That referee has sent a lot of players off this season, we highlighted that before the game."
Scott had only refereed two games previously this season during which he'd sent off one player, Wigan's Callum McManaman at Bournemouth.
Back to the football and Blackpool remain top after winning 2-1 at Bournemouth, another game to see some dismissals including visiting manager Paul Ince who managed to kick a water bottle onto someone's foot when his side missed an easy chance to make it 3-1.
They lead QPR on goal difference. Both sides have dropped just two points and for QPR their fifth win of the season was their fourth successive 1-0 win. Just one difference this time, the goal was scored by Austin. He's got that monkey off his back with his first league goal for his new club. I suspect he won't have anything like six games to wait for his next one.
Our draw on Saturday has meant we've slipped into fifth place but we've got an early opportunity to get another win with Birmingham here tomorrow night.
