Stroud is Den referee

Burnley's game at Millwall tomorrow will be refereed by Hampshire referee Keith Stroud, some twenty months since he last refereed us during the promotion season at Birmingham. Then a Premier League referee, he refereed us twice that season and both ended in 1-1 draws. Prior to the game at Birmingham he'd taken charge on that wonderful night at Stamford Bridge when we knocked Chelsea out of the Carling Cup.This will be his fifth Burnley game. He had a disappointing game at Plymouth when he refereed us for the first time but since then hasn't caused us too many problems, and that is despite him leaving us with ten men at Chelsea. All of the games have been away from home; we lost the Plymouth game 1-0 and the other three have all ended in 1-1 draws. On the 20th December 2008 Stroud refereed the Premier League game between Fulham and Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage but he hasn't refereed a Premier League game since and was axed from the select group at the end of last season.Back as a Football League referee only, he refereed 32 games last season and gave out 110 yellow cards and 6 red cards. The last of those red cards went the way of Jermaine Beckford, then at Leeds, in their 1-0 home win against Swindon in March. That remains his last red card and this season, in four games, he's issued eleven yellow cards with six of them going to home team players and five to away team players. His last game was Leyton Orient's 0-0 League One home draw against Walsall last Tuesday. There were two yellow cards in that game for Aaron Lescott and Jonathan Macken, both of Walsall.Stroud has had just the two 2008/09 games since the introduction of our RATE THE REF feature and is currently in eleventh place. The assistant referees tomorrow are Wade Norcott (Essex) and Adrian Sannerude (Suffolk) . The fourth official is Football League referee Pat Miller (Bedfordshire) who last refereed Burnley at Plymouth in October 2006.
