Strachan delighted to ride his luck

Gordon Strachan admitted "the football gods were kind" to Middlesbrough after they grabbed a dramatic 2-1 win over Burnley at The Riverside.[LNB] Boro looked to be heading for defeat in front of a disappointing crowd of 15,033 after Andre Bikey put Burnley in front. [LNB]But substitute Tarmo Kink hit a 79th-minute equaliser with his first touch and the Estonia midfielder then produced a dramatic twist when he struck deep into stoppage time.[LNB]Strachan said: "There was an energy about us. Sometimes you can think too much about a game when really you just need to play from the heart. We did that and that was the difference.[LNB]"We played well, we had an energy and we created a lot of chances. The football gods were kind to us. We deserved it.[LNB]"Kris Boyd was going to take the free-kick but I shouted to give Tarmo a go. I don't know if I fancied him before the kick but I sure did after he took it.[LNB]"It was worth him taking it. Sometimes after you have scored a goal you are really up for another and that's what happened.[LNB]"We know he is a good player. We have been watching him since March and we know what he can do. He is a sensitive lad and has maybe struggled a wee bit with the physical side here but he has a talent for striking a football and an eye for goal."[LNB]Burnley boss Brian Laws was left frustrated but admitted Kink's brace showed a touch of class.[LNB]"You can't legislate for wonder goals like that," said Laws.[LNB]"Sometimes you have to hold your hand up and say you have been beaten by absolute beauties. The lad probably could try that 1,000 times and they wouldn't go in but when you get them right there is no stopping them.[LNB]"I have no complaints about the first but I was disappointed by the second. Don't get me wrong, the shot was a cracker, but it was a cheap free-kick to concede.[LNB]"You know that Leroy Lita is going to drop like a stone if he gets the opportunity and we should have taken that on board.[LNB]"I am disappointed because we looked comfortable.[LNB]"We were in control and we used the extra man in midfield well and once we got the goal I thought we would hold on to win so yes, I was disappointed, although I think we are going in the right direction."
