Stewart joins Alfreton

Goalkeeper Jon Stewart, who played for the reserves against Wrexham in midweek, has departed Turf Moor for the rest of the season to join Blue Square Premier League club Alfreton Town.

He had a good game in midweek but is opportunities are going to be limited with the Clarets for the rest of the season with Brian Jensen back in action. Stewart had been on the bench for the first team during the Beast's absence but has not been in the first team squad since being named as a substitute for the FA Cup tie at Norwich at the beginning of January.

With that in mind he's signed for Alfreton for the remainder of the season and will go straight into their squad for the home game tomorrow AFC Telford United.

Alfreton, who are managed by former Grimsby Town, Bradford City and Chesterfield boss are currently in the bottom four in what is their first ever season at that level having won the Blue Square North last season.

They have thirteen games remaining and Stewart, who is one of seven Burnley players currently out on loan, will be available for all of them.
