Stars Aplenty At West Ham

09 December 2011 10:05
In what was an outstanding team performance, four players have come out on top in the Man of the Match vote and the Player Ratings from our fantastic 2-1 win against West Ham at the Boleyn Ground last week.

Those four players have come from all areas of the pitch with Michael Duff from the defence, midfielders Dean Marney and Chris McCann along with forward Jay Rodriguez as the Clarets turned in what was, arguably, our best performance of the season and undoubtedly the best result.

Duff it was who landed the man of the match with 32.9% of the vote. Since his return to the side we've certainly looked more secure at the back and this was another excellent performance from our most experienced defender.

Captain Chris McCann, scorer of the equaliser, came second with a 23.3% share whilst Dean Marney, making his first league start since the defeat at Peterborough in September, was third with 11.9% of the vote.

The same three players were right up there in the player ratings too, but all of them were behind Rodriguez who led the way with a rating of 8.08 out of 10. Marney this time was second and his rating was 7.92 whilst both Duff and McCann received ratings of 7.75 out of 10 to jointly take third place.

Overall, this gives Duff four points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with the other three players - Marney, McCann and Rodriguez - all receiving three points.

Significantly, the points won by Rodriguez have taken him into second place, albeit still 12 points behind leader Marvin Bartley. McCann has moved into joint seventh place with Duff now alongside Brian Easton in eleventh place and for Marney, they are the first points of the season.

Voting is currently underway for the November Goal of the Month with eleven goals to choose from. You can make your selection on the front page or on the VOTING POLLS page. That vote ends at midnight tonight with the Portsmouth Man of the Match vote starting around an hour after the final whistle tomorrow.
