Southgate bottles it

Gareth Southgate has spurned a glorious opportunity to give Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton the chance to see if he can make the quantum leap from the English Premier League into the full England team.
The interim England boss has announced that Joe Hart will keep his place between the sticks for tomorrow night's prestigious but largely irrelevant friendly against Spain.

Clarets' shot stopper and skipper Tom Heaton has been earning rave reviews in the present Premier League campaign and it was widely assumed that Gareth Southgate would give the Burnley goalkeeper his first start in the England goal.
Heaton was given just five minutes by Roy Hodgson on his international debut. Southgate was on hand at Turf Moor to witness yet another impressive Heaton display in Burnley's recent narrow home win against Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace.
Despite Heaton's recent heroics, Southgate has decided to go with the easy option and select Joe Hart for the meaningless encounter with Spain at Wembley tomorrow night.
Old habits seemingly die hard for the man who sits in the England manager's chair. (TEC).
