Slapdash defending makes it a gray day for Stuart

Stuart Gray laid the blame with some slack defending after his second game in caretaker charge of Burnley ended in a 2-1 defeat at Reading. The visitors took the lead when Ross Wallace converted a Tyrone Mears cross after 28 minutes but Shane Long scored twice to take his season's tally to 10 and lift the Royals above Burnley in the npower Championship table. "We are all very disappointed in the dressing room," said Gray. "We created so many chances but gave away two soft goals. One was straight down the middle and the other sloppy marking at a corner. "The team played well and we are wondering how we came away without anything. We will get on the bus home wondering how we failed to get three points, let alone one. "Having got our noses in front you hope to stay there but Reading had Shane Long up front and he's a handful. Both my centre-halves know they have been in a game."
