Sky and Fry talking nonsense

In the last two days, Sky have linked us with two players from other Championship clubs, namely Coventry striker Lukas Jutkiewicz and George Boyd at Peterborough. Any speculation gets fans interested, particularly when the manager has confirmed there could be incoming signings this week, and so there has been much discussion about the pair, who it appears will not be coming to Burnley. It seems as though we made an enquiry about Jutkiewicz, who scored in Coventry's first goal in their 2-2 draw at Turf Moor in March, but that's as far as it goes. Despite suggestions that we have had an offer of £1.5 million turned down, it has been denied by both clubs and very strongly by Coventry. Chief Executive at the Ricoh, Paul Clouting told the Coventry Telegraph: "We've had no approach or bid for Lukas. At this stage, as the chairman has said, we are looking to bring players in rather than seeing them go out." That brings us on to George Boyd. This one has been substantiated by the Posh director of football Barry Fry, who said: "Burnley were keen on George, but they haven't met out valuation and we weren't interested in the player exchange." The Peterborough Evening Telegraph says that Fry had confirmed a £1.5 million bid and then a player exchange deal involving Ross Wallace, both of which were turned down. Burnley have rubbished that with a club spokesman saying: " Absolutely not true that bid made for Boyd, or that Wallace offered as part of any deal" Meanwhile the search goes on for new players with at least one more expected this week. A striker appears to be favourite right now.
