Burnley signed Paul Shaw on loan from Arsenal in the 1994/95 season, a player who later went on to play for Cardiff, Peterborough, Millwall, Gillingham, Sheffield United, Rotherham, Chesterfield and Oxford before moving to Hungary with Ferencváros. The move to Hungary came in October 2007 at the age of 34 after he'd dropped into non-league football at Oxford United here in England. Owned by Kevin McCabe, chairman of Sheffield United, the best known club in the Hungarian Championship was gathering something of an English flavour with another former Blade, Craig Short, as manager.Shaw had a successful time too, scoring 21 goals in 48 appearances in a three year spell in the Hungarian Championship but has opted to leave with Short having returned to England to manage Notts County. This week hes returned to England and signed for Evo-Stik Premier Division club Retford United. He has been named in their squad for today's away game against Ossett Town when he is expected to make his debut.
