Sharp - no to Clarets

28 June 2010 21:05
Reports coming from South Yorkshire this evening are suggesting that Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has turned down a move to Burnley and will stay at Bramall Lane. Sharp was at Turf Moor for several hours last Wednesday and it was believed a deal, including a transfer fee of around £1 million, had been done, but tonight there are strong suggestions that the Sheffield born striker has said no to a move to Burnley. He's not chosen Doncaster or Leeds ahead of us but somewhat strangely has decided to stay with Sheffield United and try to force his way into the first team.Given that manager Kevin Blackwell has hardly used him in over two and a half years, let him spend virtually all of last season out on loan, and is now ready to sell, you'd think if this news is true that Sharp has a battle on to get anywhere near the Sheffield United first team.
