Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty will miss the closing games of the season after being forced to undergo emergency appendix surgery.
The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international has not featured since the 2-1 home defeat by Sheffield United earlier this month and will not return to action until next season.
He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "When the doctor told me it was my appendix, the first thing I asked was how long I'd be out for.
"When he said three to four weeks I felt like crying, because I knew it was my season finished.
"It was a nightmare. I didn't know until I got rushed into theatre how serious it was.
"When I first started being ill I thought it was something I'd eaten, but I was in absolute agony."
