Season to start and end at home with Bolton and Ipswich

18 June 2012 09:00
Games against Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield Town will start the 2012/13 season whilst it all comes to an end with games against Cardiff City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town. But when do we play Blackburn Rovers?

For the third successive season Burnley will be at home for the first and last games. This year it all kicks off with one of the more eagerly awaited fixtures, the visit of Bolton Wanderers to Turf Moor for their first game outside of the Premier League in over eleven years.

Burnley's last home league game against Bolton was on Boxing Day 2009 and it proved to be Owen Coyle's last home game in charge of Burnley. In August he'll return for a second time with his disciples and the reception is likely to be little, if any, better than last time.

We follow that up with two away games in a week. We travel to Middlesbrough on the Tuesday with a trip to newly promoted Huddersfield Town four days later for what will be their second home game of the season.

There's no sign of Barnsley again on Boxing Day. Derby County will be our visitors on 26th December. We then play Leicester at home before facing a short trip over to Hillsborough on New Year's Day to play Sheffield Wednesday.

It all comes to a close on Saturday 4th May when Ipswich Town will be at Turf Moor to bring the curtain down on the league season.

That's the start and end along with the festive season but what about the two most eagerly awaited games. The first is at home when Venky's pitch up at Turf Moor with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 1st December. The return, at the chicken ranch (formerly Ewood Park) is on Saturday 16th March.

That's it. The full fixture list is below. We play all 23 teams twice, home and away, but as always these have been eagerly awaited and supporters can now start planning for the season ahead.
