Scunthorpe leave Howe disappointed

Eddie Howe declared himself slightly disappointed to be denied a winning start to his career as Burnley manager. Battling Scunthorpe halted their own horrendous home record of six successive defeats with a goalless draw at Glanford Park. In a game of few chances at either end it was Clarets' substitute Chris Iwelumo who came closest to breaking the deadlock with an effort which struck the outside of the post. Howe said after the contest: "I'm slightly disappointed not to be coming away with all three points. "It's been a long week since going in to take charge at Turf Moor and it seemed a long time before we finally got round to playing a game of football. "Scunthorpe is a difficult place to come even though I know their home record has not been too good in recent games. Defensively I thought we were strong, it was just in the final third where we could not find the quality we need."
