Same game - same ref

When Burnley played Leicester City at Turf Moor last season the game was refereed by Geoff Eltringham from Sunderland, and he's back tonight for the same fixture.

Eltringham became a Football League referee at the start of the 2009/10 season, having previously been an assistant referee in the league. The game at Turf Moor last season was just his second at Championship level.

He made a few poor decisions during the game and Leicester weren't happy with the penalty award against them which Graham Alexander converted to complete a 3-0 win, following goals from Chris Iwelumo and Ross Wallace.

He was only given one more Championship game all season, a season that ended with a staggering 13 yellow cards in just 30 games.

This season he's been a bit quieter with the cards with just 27 yellow cards in 12 games alongside two red cards. Of those yellow cards, 12 of them have gone to home team players and 15 to away team players.

The two players he's sent off were in League One and League Two games, although he has refereed three Championship games this season.

His last game was Sheffield Wednesday's 2-0 home win against Colchester in League One a week last Saturday. Red Johnson (Wednesday) was carded along with Colchester's Ben Coker and Brian Wilson.

HIs one previous Burnley game saw him secure a rating of 54.05 which currently sees him in 37th place in the RATE THE REF Table.

The assistant referees are Paul Curry (Northumberland) and Paul Davison (Cleveland). The fourth official is Mark Duncan (Cheshire).
