Robbie could still be a Claret

Robbie Blake recently turned down the offer of a new contract at Burnley and has since been linked with Blackpool, Preston and Hearts amongst others. The latest reports suggested Robbie was on his way to Edinburgh for talks with Hearts over a two year contract, but there's been little word since and today Brian Laws has again said he'd like Robbie to remain at Turf Moor.Laws has stressed that the contract offer hasn't been withdrawn and that it won't be. "I know Robbie Blake is a huge favourite with supporters. It has already been clearly stressed that the offer is still on the table and I hope that Robbie is still thinking about it."We want Robbie at Burnley Football Club. He is a crowd favourite. I don't think he will get that anywhere else and we know what he can give us."At the moment it's a bit of a stalemate but there's still plenty of time and we will give him that time."Robbie has made it clear that he'd prefer to stay with the Clarets. He's had a fantastic rapport with the Turf Moor crowd in his six years with the club over two spells. It would certainly not surprise me if he did decide to stay and potentially end his career with Burnley.Meanwhile Laws has confirmed that he'd like to get all his new signings in by the time the players return to training eight days from now, and if not by the 17th July when they leave for the pre-season trip to Singapore.Having already signed Dean Marney from Hull and Wolves' striker Chris Iwelumo he's now strongly linked with Sheffield United's Billy Sharp and young Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster who could join on a season long loan.
